Farewell: the Eternal Battlefield (サヨナラ永遠の戦場! sayonara eien no senjō!) is the eleventh episode of Star Fleet. It aired on December 20, 1980 on Fuji TV in Japan, and January 15, 1983 on ITV in the UK.

Shiro lays in bed wishing that Captain Carter were there fighting the battle with them. Suddenly he is interrupted by a familiar voice, he gets up to find Captain Carter, deep in shadow, in the doorway. Carter accuses Shiro of being a quitter and shoots him with his laser gun. Shiro falls to the floor, to find he was only dreaming. X-Bomber is the worse for wear, the engine room is severely damaged. Shiro is late for duty, and Lee goes to take up his own break shift. Shiro tells Dr. Benn that he thought the new Alliance commander was his old instructor Captain Carter, and finds that Hercules agrees with him.
Just then PPA picks up another distress call from a nearby planet. Shiro and Hercules say to ignore it, because it might be another trap. Dr. Benn however doesn't want to chance that it isn't and says they should investigate in Dai-X. PPA gives the order for the boys to go in Dai-X. Lamia goes to wake up John Lee, where he is reluctant to leave due to his cold (snotty bubbles coming from his nose). He quickly leaves and is still getting dressed as his chair moves to LegTrax.
The atmosphere on the planet is detected to be breathable. They find a ruined city on the planet surrounded by the remains of a battlefield with destroyed and half buried tanks and fighters. Hercules thinks it's been used for war games. A female voice calls out to them, leading them to a locked underground chamber, crawling with bats and a giant spider. They find a princess trapped in a giant web with a metal silencer mask on her. Hercules shoots the webs and frees her. She identifies herself as Princess Keeli, who requests they take her to her palace which is nothing more than ruins now.
Out in the ruins, Princess Keeli tells her story. Many years ago, Makara and the Alliance attacked her planet without warning, killing her parents and leaving her planet in a state of continual war until she is rescued from her prison. She states that the war is not over, but the tanks and fighters are merely sleeping. Just then, Captain Carter arrives in an Alliance carrier and makes the demand for Lamia and that X-Bomber terminate their search for the Skull. Carter implicitly acknowledges he knows who Shiro is, though refuses to identify himself.
Shiro and the boys refuse, and Carter retaliates by launching three astrofighters. Shiro tells Lee to take Keeli back to the safety of the dungeon. The astrofighters start attacking the landscape - however, much to the confusion of the boys, Carter recalls the attack. The tanks and fighters suddenly begin to reactivate and emerge from the ground as Princess Keeli predicted. Carter enjoys a laugh at the boys expense and leaves, as they fight their way back to the Dai-X fighters.
The fighters launch separately, and attempt to attack the fighters and tanks from above. However, MainBody piloted by Hercules is damaged, this forces the boys to Dai-X junction to help Hercules. The Dai-X destroys many of the fighters and tanks by air before engaging more further by knocking boulders from a hillside.
Keeli makes herself heard when all the tanks are destroyed, thanking them for ending the war. Flowers will bloom and one day new life will emerge from the planet. Finally at peace, she sits on her throne and goes to sleep, turning into rose. The boys are shocked at this, Shiro stating he feels emptiness ending a war with no one around to enjoy peace, but is more concerned with his inability to comprehend Carter turning to the Alliance. They try to take off, though find that Lee is asleep in LegTrax. Hercules rouses him with the promise of Chocolate Cookies, and Dai-X launches, a job well done. Dai-X returns to X-Bomber and the search for the Skull resumes.
